What is a Food Intolerance?
Food intolerance is a hypersensitive reaction to certain foods which can cause pain, bloating and misery.

Some symptoms of food intolerance include
Gastrointestinal complaints or dysfunction
Persistant headaches
Painful joints
Arteriosclerosis
Migraines
Depression

The effect of a food intolerance usually shows up a few hours or even days after eating. This makes discovering which food is the cause of the problem difficult.

If you feel a food intolerance may be the reason for your tummy problems, the easiest and quickest way to find out which food is the culprit is our 'in house' same day, blood prick test.
Appointment times for intolerance tests are a variable evening a week, do please telephone me to book in.

Probiotics
One size certainly doesn't fit all!

As an estimate there are more than 1200 species of bacteria, yeast and other organisms living in the human gut. Most of these bacteria help protect us from disease and so are classed as friendly

Friendly bacteria enable the colon to produce with some of the nutrients we need to be healthy for example vitamin B and K and the 'feel good hormone seratonin '.

The bacteria help to break down drugs, hormones and carcinogens and protect us from infection by fighting pathogenic bacteria.
The good bacteria help to maintain a healthy intestinal pH and boost our immune function. Good old bacteria!.

I have observed that within a month of taking the appropriate probiotics my client feel an improvement in their health.
Often we take probiotics and don't notice any difference that's probably because we are taking the wrong ones for our condition. Each section of the colon has an affinity for a particular bacteria and as a good practitioner I will be able to recommend the best one for you.

SMALL TIPS
A lot of people suspect candida is causing their itchy skin, poor digestion, itchy bottom, constipation/diarrhoea, excessive gas, bloat, poor concentration, feeling ill all over their body, exhaustion, headaches, depression and not coping with strong smells.

Candida lives in all of us in a moderate amount, it is natural to us.
Candidiasis is an overgrowth of candida and this overgrowth is the cause of these issues
These days special probiotics are the first port of call to rid the body of excess candida and yes you also have to reduce your sugar intake but there is a yummy alternative called Xylitol which I whole heartedly recommend. It gives you the sweet taste and doesn't feed the candida.
